About Autism - Terminology
In order to be consistent with terminology generally adopted by the Care Standards Act 2000 UK, Autism First have elected to use the same terminology and therefore uses the term Autistic Spectrum Disorders (asd) as a generic description of those people it provides support and service to. Despite this, Autism First recognises that many people may prefer to have their diagnosis described as an autistic spectrum condition.
